Creative Yoga Games for Kids
|
Early Childhood to Pre Teens
Designed by Edna Reinhardt
This is a concept developed by Edna over some 30 years of teaching at her own studio and in school and early childhood settings. Much of the structure has come from her running training workshops for teachers.
The set is also intended for use at home under the guidance of adults, yet it is simple enough for children to initiate their own games.
The boxed set is made up of 48 numbered yoga postures on 130x130mm laminated cards and a 28 page booklet. The postures are of varying degrees of difficulty and across an age range from early childhood to pre-teens. It includes a set of class plans for teachers and instructions for activities and games. These include memory games, transition games (creating links between postures) and creative movement, encouraging the link from yoga to dance in a natural and simple way. |

Meditation for Children
|
Patrice Thomas
This delightful, easy to use CD gives parents, teachers and carers a simple and effective way to introduce the regular pratice of relaxation to children by resting, calming and rejuvenating their bodies, minds and spirits.
The meditation stories have been successfully used in day care centres, preschools and primary schools as the imagery and fantasy on each track appeals to children’s sense of wonder. Using the breath and lying still whilst listening to a meditation story accompanied by gentle music, children from 3 years through to early teens can learn how to soothe and calm themselves. These benefits can be transferred when they feel upset, angry or “out of sorts”. Perfect to use at home, school or in childcare settings to help children become more resilient, competent, calm and positive in facing the challenges of an increasingly stressful world. |

Still Quiet Place
Mindfulness forYoung Children
|
Mindfulness is process of developing moment to moment inner awareness which has been proven to reduce stress. So how might our children benefit if they learn this life skill now while they are young, and remain familiar with the "Still Quiet Place" within themselves as they grow-up?
Maybe if our children are able to experience their thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations without being overwhelmed, they will be less prone to the unhealthy effects of stress.
Perhaps if they learn to access a natural sense of peace, and to trust their own inner wisdom, they will be less susceptible to harmful peer influences, and less likely to look for relief in potentially risky behaviors.
Research indicates that reducing children's stress enhances their physical health, social relations, academic abilities and most importantly their sense of well being. |
