This one-hour class, taught by John Friend, founder of Anusara yoga, is suited for all levels of experience and focuses on connecting with the essence of Joy that is the very nature of our being. John starts by reminding us that every living being yearns to be happy and experience as much Freedom in life as possible. When mind and body enter a more harmonious state of balance, we immediately tend to feel happier and are afforded a direct connection to the Essence of Joy pulsating as our highest Consciousness.
Throughout this practice, John teaches how yoga can be a powerful tool for finding a lasting connection to the essence of Bliss at the heart of our Being. In this well-rounded sequence of standing poses, hip openers, backbends, seated twists and forward folds, contrary complementary energies like effort/surrender and contraction/expansion are brought into harmonious relationship. John teaches this class with the warm-hearted delivery, uplifting Tantric philosophy and remarkable Universal Principles of Alignment that are characteristic of Anusara yoga.
